Shaun Mallia - Manager
Shaun is a lifelong Gippslander with close to two decades of experience working alongside communities across the region, building partnerships and supporting locally-led initiatives. He began his career as a journalist with the Latrobe Valley Express, where he developed a strong connection to the stories, challenges and strengths of local communities, later becoming an award-winning editor. From there, Shaun moved into communication and stakeholder engagement roles across the health and energy sectors, working at the intersection of community, government and industry. Shaun played a key role in major regional initiatives, including supporting community engagement for the world-first study into the health impacts of the 2014 Hazelwood Mine Fire, contributing to the Latrobe Health Assembly’s Social Marketing Team, and leading community relations for AGL Energy in the Latrobe Valley. Prior to joining Warragul Community House, Shaun was the Executive Officer of Kindred Spirits Enterprises, where he worked closely with communities, partners and stakeholders to support grassroots projects, build local capacity, and help turn community-led ideas into action. He now serves as Manager of Warragul Community House, where he is focused on strengthening community connections, supporting inclusive programs, and creating opportunities for people to come together, share ideas and develop initiatives that respond to local needs. Shaun is also a Board Director with the Drouin & District Community Bank and remains actively involved in the region through a range of volunteer and governance roles. He is passionate about supporting communities to lead, shape and grow their own future.
Kate Glover - Administration Officer
With six years of dedicated service at Warragul Community House, Kate plays a vital role within our team. Drawing on her extensive administrative background, honed through years managing a childcare centre, Kate oversees our daily office operations with precision and care. Her responsibilities are diverse and impactful, including: Administrative Leadership: Ensuring smooth day‑to‑day operations in the office Volunteer Program Management: Overseeing recruitment, scheduling, and training initiatives Marketing & Social Media Coordination: Developing and implementing communication strategies to strengthen our community presence.
Helen Taylor – Financial Officer
Helen Taylor has been a valued member of the Warragul Community House team for approximately ten years. In July of this year, she transitioned from a long-term contractor role into a permanent position as Financial Officer, reflecting her ongoing commitment and integral contribution to the organisation. With extensive experience as a qualified BAS Agent, Helen brings a strong background in financial management, compliance, and reporting. Over the course of her career, she has worked with more than 40 businesses across a variety of industries, providing expert financial services tailored to each organisation's needs. Her work has encompassed bookkeeping, BAS preparation and lodgement, payroll, budgeting, and financial analysis. Helen’s depth of knowledge and meticulous attention to detail have proven invaluable in ensuring the financial sustainability and operational transparency of Warragul Community House.
